Washington State: Bothell, Marysville, Arlington, and Camano Island
No. If you decide to continue lessons with a teacher after your free trial, you will be billed a prorated amount if lessons begin in the middle of a month. The following month your regular tuition rate will begin.
Tuition is pre-paid at a flat rate at the beginning of every month. Our goal is to make payment as simple as possible. Using a tuition system means that you will be able to plan ahead knowing what your invoice amount will be every month. Tuition is based on the average number of lessons a family takes over the course of a year. These prices include some canceled lessons and Hart Music School holidays.
Yes, there is a $25 one time per household pe-registration fee. (This fee will not be charged again if a family disenrolls for 1-3 months, then re-enrolls.)
1. Guarantees a spot: Pre-registration ensures that the student has secured a spot in the music school's program. Some small music schools may have limited spots available, and pre-registering can ensure that the student has a reserved spot before the class fills up.
2. Better planning: Pre-registering helps HMS plan better for the upcoming session.
3. Avoid last-minute rush: By pre-registering, students can avoid the last-minute rush that often accompanies the start of a new academic session. This can save time and reduce stress.
4. Build rapport: Pre-registering shows your commitment to the program, establishing you as serious students who are eager to learn and grow in their musical pursuits.
4. Pre-registering also helps defray the cost of overhead, such as advertising, license fees, accounting subscriptions, and more.
HMS holidays are built-in days off for you and your teacher, and are listed below.
Tuition does not change during months that include an official school holiday, and there are no credits or refunds for these days.
When calculating your tuition rates, these dates were taken into account.
Books and materials are not included in your tuition. You will be ordering these using links sent in advance by the teacher.
There are a few occasions when HMS charges a pro-rated (charged per lesson taught) system:
We have calculated the average number of lessons a family takes in the course of a year, and factored in some canceled lessons. This means that canceled lessons will not be refunded.
If your child is too sick to be at school on a music lesson day, we ask that you cancel the lesson out of respect for the health of your teacher and their other students.
Your teacher will do their best to reschedule lessons that they do cancel at a mutually convenient time. If a canceled lesson is not made up by the teacher, a tuition credit will be applied to future tuition payments. If you do not have a tuition payment scheduled for the near future, a refund check may be disbursed upon request (this applies for teacher cancellations only).
Yes. HMS plans to hire new teachers for various instruments, including voice.
Yes. HMS plans to start live bi-annual recitals on Camano Island asap.
In the event of extreme/inclement weather, teachers may need to cancel lessons in order to stay safe. If your teacher cancels a lesson due to extreme weather, your teacher will be required to make up the lesson. If you are not able to find a mutually convenient time to schedule the make-up lesson by the end of the semester, you will receive a credit for that lesson.
Lessons missed due to short outings (where only 1 lesson is missed) will be rescheduled as possible by the teacher.
Vacations during July and August that result in two or more lessons being missed will be handled either by choosing a 5-pack (5 lessons scheduled out over 2 months) or on a prorated basis.
